4. Karpathy Reframes LLMs
3. Google Allows Publishers to Turn Off AI Training
2. Medium Hints at Coordinated Effort to Block AI Crawlers
1. $1B for Ive and Altman’s AI Phone?
/imagine prompt: an artificial intelligence phone (somehow we don’t think this is what Jony Ive and Sam Altman will design)
5. Is the Metaverse Back on the Menu?
After being thoroughly ridiculed and written off last year, a new fully VR interview between Mark Zuckerberg and Lex Fridman has people reconsidering their metaverse stances.
Here's my conversation with Mark Zuckerberg, his 3rd time on the podcast, but this time we talked in the Metaverse as photorealistic avatars. This was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It really felt like we were talking in-person, but we were miles apart 🤯 It's… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

4. Karpathy Reframes LLMs
We’re all of us still trying to understand this new AI world we’re living in. OpenAI’s Andrej Karpathy has recently argued that we shouldn’t be thinking about LLMs as just chatbots, but as the kernel of an entirely new operating system.
With many 🧩 dropping recently, a more complete picture is emerging of LLMs not as a chatbot, but the kernel process of a new Operating System. E.g. today it orchestrates:
- Input & Output across modalities (text, audio, vision)
- Code interpreter, ability to write & run… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…— Andrej Karpathy (@karpathy)

3. Google Allows Publishers to Turn Off AI Training
Google is giving publishers more control over how their data is used. Thanks to a new update, publishers can allow Google to crawl their site for the purposes of indexing for search, while blocking their content from being scraped and used for AI training.
Google adds a switch for publishers to opt out of becoming AI training data

2. Medium Hints at Coordinated Effort to Block AI Crawlers
Writing host Medium has opted in to block ChatGPT’s web crawler, but they’re also hinting that a broader coalition against generative AI may be forming. Medium’s CEO has said “We are actively recruiting for a coalition of other platforms to help figure out the future of fair use in the age of AI.”
1. $1B for Ive and Altman’s AI Phone?
The story first reported by The Information that Sam Altman was talking with iPod and iPhone designer Jony Ive has picked up. New reports are that the duo are seeking $1B in funding for the new project (from Softbank’s Masayoshi Son). Some are even calling it the beginning of the AI phone wars.
“Designer Jony Ive and OpenAI’s Sam Altman Discuss AI Hardware Project”
As my clients have known for over 3 years OpenAI is building devices.
Now former Apple designer Jony Ive is on board.
Wait till you see what this is!
World changing.

BONUS: Are AI partners good for marriages?
A lot of people are quick to judge AI companions. The biggest question always is whether it's a compliment or a substitute for real-life relationships. I always nudge people to see what our users have to say first. Random post on @MyReplika today:
