Turns out, it’s not just state and national governments trying to figure out this whole AI thing. New York Mayor Eric Adams has premiered a new artificial intelligence plan for the city that he says will allow departments to take advantage of the new technology while minimizing harm.

4. SEC Chair Gensler Says AI Will Cause Financial Crash
Another new technology, another combative Gary Gensler. The controversial SEC Chair has told the Financial Times that an AI-driven financial crash is “unavoidable.” The fear is over-reliance on AI models that make all market participants take the same action at the same time.

3. OpenAI to Debut AI Agents in November?
The OpenAI rumor mill is in full swing. With the company’s first developer conference coming up in November, some are speculating that their big announcement will have to do with agents. Meanwhile, the company has changed their core values to focus on AGI.
Expect OpenAI to reveal GPT-4V (image recognition) API and their own autonomous agents on November 6th.

2. Baidu Model at GPT4 Level?
Baidu has debuted its Ernie 4.0 LLM and the company claims that it performs at GPT4 levels. The premier presentation showed off the models capabilities to generate advertising materials as well as a unique story. As the model isn’t public yet, claims of it’s performance can’t be independently verified.

1. AI Safety Summit Schedule and Controversy
At the beginning of next month, world leaders will show up in London for an AI Safety Summit which the UK government hopes will make major progress towards global AI policy alignment. The schedule has just been released, but that has been overshadowed by news that the German Chancellor might snub the event, which could cause a domino effect.
