5. IMF Says 60% of US Jobs Could Be Impacted by AI
The World Economic Forum in Davos has kicked off and perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s all about AI. It seems like every institution and firm in the world has dropped stats — like the IMF suggesting that 60% of US jobs (and 40% in general globally) will be impacted by AI.
🔸 Almost 40% of jobs around the world will be impacted by AI, IMF chief says
The rise of artificial intelligence (AI) will impact 60 percent of jobs in advanced economies and some emerging markets around the world, according to International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

4. PwC Survey: 46% of CEOs Think GenAI Will Increase Profits
In a survey of more than 4700 global CEOs, the thing that rings out most clearly is that AI is going to change things. About half expect it to increase profits in the next 12 months. 25% think it’s going to lead to headcount reductions of 5% or more this year as well.
Bob Moritz, global chair of @PwC in @FT again about the impact of AI on headcount. The impact the AI life cycle on business is more easily to understand with PRIDAR. As are the associated risks and mitigations carefulai.com/pridarbot.html

3. Deloitte State of Generative AI in the Enterprise Report
The final survey in our survey filled first five comes from Deloitte, who found significantly more optimism among business leaders than the headlines might lead us to believe. 62% of respondents said that Generative AI makes them feel excited (compared to just 30% who said “uncertain”).
2024 is a defining year. Will Generative AI prove its value? Reshape workforce strategy? Impact industry? Track trends in Generative AI adoption to find out:

2. Musk Wants 25% Control of Tesla Before Building More AI
Elon Musk has the chatterboxes chattering with a recent public request to own 25% of Tesla (which would be up from the 13% he currently owns). He says that would give him sufficient control where he can be overruled, but it’s not easy. He said that without this, he doesn’t want to build more advanced AI and robotics there.
I am uncomfortable growing Tesla to be a leader in AI & robotics without having ~25% voting control. Enough to be influential, but not so much that I can’t be overturned.
Unless that is the case, I would prefer to build products outside of Tesla. You don’t seem to understand… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

1. Altman Says AGI Coming Soon at Davos (But Will Change Less Than We Think)
Here’s a spicy take. Being interviewed at Davos, Sam Altman said that AGI is coming in the “close-ish future” but that he actually thinks it will change the world “much less than we all think.” Do you think he’s actually changed his perspective here, or is he just trying to tamp down the narrative?
Sam Altman says he expects AGI to change the world much less than we all think
