Meta is sick of its growing reputation as social networks for older people. The WSJ is reporting that as early as this week, they will begin rolling out what they call “Get AI Personas” - chatbots in the style of Snap’s My AI designed to increase engagement among younger users.

4. China Chip Factory Powered by Particle Accelerator

As the US continues to tamp down access to AI chips, the South China Morning Post reports that China is implementing plans to build a massive particle accelerator to power a new AI chip factory.

3. Microsoft Exploring Nuclear Power

A new job posting suggests that Microsoft is looking into small modular reactor and micro reactors. The company is hiring for a principal program manager of nuclear technology. Many are reading it as part and parcel of the larger battle to find ever more compute.

This weekend, speculation started raging around unconfirmed rumors from Reddit and Twitter users about what would seem to be a far more advanced state of development inside OpenAI than they’re letting on publicly. What IS confirmed is that the company just launched image and audio for ChatGPT.

1. Amazon to Invest Up to $4B in Anthropic

Seemingly following Microsoft’s OpenAI playbook, Amazon has made a major investment in foundation model competitor Anthropic worth up to $4B when all is said and done. In addition to the cash, the deal also includes AWS and use of Amazon chips for future model development.
