5. New AI Poll Shows Nervous Americans

The AI Policy Institute has released its latest polling numbers. According to those results, 64% say the US needs something akin to the EU AI Act. 68% are concerned about AI being used to create bioweapons. 64% support a government emergency response capacity to shut down the most risky AI if deemed necessary.

4. AI Developing New Antibiotics for First Time in Decades

A team from Harvard and MIT have used AI to identify a new class of antibiotic candidates, finding several that are effective against antibiotic-resistant MRSA. Given how serious a problem antibiotic resistant pathogens are, this one has lots of folks excited.

3. UK Court Says AI Can’t Win Patents

In a decision that echoes the US Patent Office’s policy that strictly AI created works can not be copyrighted, the UK Supreme Court has ruled that AI also cannot win patents, saying that “an inventor must be a natural person.” 

2. Midjourney v6 Is Here!

It’s here. It’s awesome. And it does TEXT! Yes after a flurry of recent activity, Midjourney has actually pushed v6 live. People are flocking to X to share their creations and compare it to previous versions.

1. Anthropic Raising at $15b-$20b?

Talk about striking while the iron’s hot. Anthropic is in talks to raise yet AGAIN. The company is looking to raise $750m led by Menlo Ventures in a round that would value the company at at least $15B (3x current valuation).
