Microsoft’s news aggregator has a feature where AI autogenerates polls to increase user engagement. On a recent article from The Guardian about a polo coach found dead at a school in Australia, the AI asked users whether they thought her death was natural, murder or suicide. They took down the poll, but not before The Guardian made a huge stink.

4. Microsoft Starts Rolling Out Windows 11 with Copilot

If Autumn is the AI integration season, one of the biggest updates is Microsoft releasing their updated Windows 11 with integrated AI Copilot. Some are viewing it as the first AI operating system.

3. Kamala Harris to Push for Focus on Short Term AI Problems

If the Biden Executive Order on AI was the skeleton of a policy, VP Kamala Harris intends to add meat to the bones in the UK later today. The VP is expected to argue that short term risks of AI are just as challenging as the long term issues.

2. War of Wars Between AI Safety and Open Source Folks Heats Up

As policy conversations raise the stakes, the extinction risk folks and the open source advocates are increasingly at each others throats. Andrew Ng and Yann LeCun both accused big tech AI of pursuing regulatory capture by stoking fears of extinction.
