1. Apple Spending ‘Millions a Day’ Training AI
A quick note: I’m developing some educational resources to help people creating digital content better navigate generative AI. As part of that, I’m opening up a small handful of paid 1-on-1 educational and coaching sessions to help people figure out which tools and approaches are most relevant for them. If you’re interested, send an email to [email protected] for more information.
5. OpenAI Announces Developer Event in November
While heavily caveating it that people shouldn’t expect GPT-5 or even GPT-4.5, Sam Altman and OpenAI announced an event in November that has some “great stuff to show developers.” The speculation is all about mutlimodal.
Multimodal coming?
Well, November is gonna be fun here on X.

4. Elon Musk’s AI TIME Cover Story
Steve Jobs biographer Walter Isaacson has a new book coming out about Elon Musk. Next month’s TIME cover story features an excerpt from the book that’s all about the evolution of Musk’s efforts around artificial intelligence and AI safety.
Elon Musk's fears about AI have led to battles with Google's Larry Page and OpenAI's Sam Altman.

3. Google to Require Disclaimer on AI-Generated Political Ads
Starting in November, Google will require political ads that were created with any amount of AI to prominently identify themselves as such. So far Meta hasn’t followed suit but these types of disclosures seem like they will (soon) be mandatory.
New—Google will soon require that all election advertisers disclose when their messages have been altered or created by AI tools.
Afaik, that's the first company from big tech requiring such disclosures on generative AI content in political ads

2. California Gov Signs AI Executive Order
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order directing the full breadth of state agencies to study artificial intelligence. The joint analysis is to cover everything from threats (such as to the state’s energy infrastructure) to approaches to retraining for state workers.
Breaking news: @GavinNewsom signed an executive order today outlining California’s strategy towards a responsible process for evaluation and deployment of AI. We look forward to our collaboration with the @CAgovernor and @UCBerkeley to study its impacts.

1. Apple Spending ‘Millions a Day’ Training AI
One of the biggest questions of Big Tech in AI was if, when and how Apple was going to get into the race. The Information has revealed new…well…information about the Foundation Model team inside the Cupertino giant, which while remaining small is apparently spending millions a day now on model training.
