5. Perplexity Updates
One of the more under-the-radar and beloved LLM interfaces for those in the know, Perplexity, has pushed a number of new updates. Those include updates to LlaMa Chat as well as a new file upload feature that allows users to chat directly with files.
You can now start chatting and asking questions about text files: PDFs, python files, CSVs on pplx.ai! Another step towards building the best research buddy for your code, training manuals, research papers, legal docs, earnings calls, tables. Works reliably if… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

4. A16Z’s Economic Case for Generative AI
Between Marc Andreessen’s anti-AI-safety media tour and a bevy of blog posts, A16Z is definitely settling into a role of pro-AI booster. This latest post lays out what they call the economic case for generative AI.
3. AI-Powered Brain Implants
One of the oft-touted benefits of advanced AI are its medical use cases, and this story suggests those opportunities may be more than wishful thinking. After becoming paralyzed in a 2020 diving accident, a 45-year old man has received an experimental surgery that allows him to move his arms again just through thinking about it.
AI-powered brain implants have restored movement in a man paralyzed from the chest down.
This is a prime example of AI being implemented for the greater good of humanity.
Here's the story:

2. Amazon’s AI Strategy
Earnings calls continue, and the latest report comes from Amazon, whose CEO Andy Jassy said “every one of our teams is working on building generative AI applications that reinvent and enhance their customers’ experience.” Details however, were more scant, with Jassy saying generative AI will “help us be more cost-effective and streamlined in how we run operations in various businesses to the absolute heart of every customer experience in which we offer.”
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy lays out the big picture opportunity of AWS as AI ambitions across sectors run high and Wall Street worries about slowing AWS growth:
"Remember, the core of AI is data ... AWS not only has the broadest array of storage database analytics and data… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…
