Is This What Comes After ChatGPT?

The Most Interesting Discussion

Last week Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was conspicuously absent from the White House’s meeting with AI CEOs. When later asked about it, a Biden official said the meeting was just “focused on companies currently leading in the space, especially on the consumer-facing product side.” Ouch.

Clearly they weren’t on Meta’s earnings call, where Zuck mentioned AI something like 20 times. They also, apparently, aren’t really in touch with the open source community. The Google researchers leak memo that argued that open source was out-innovating the giants pointed specifically to Meta’s release (and leak) of LLaMA as a driving force.

And it’s not just LLaMA. As one NVIDIA scientist puts it:

Jim should now, given that his team is working in a similar space, which he shared in March saying “After ChatGPT, the future belongs to multimodal LLMs.”

Sure ImageBind is just at a research stage, but it’s not hard to see the vision for what comes next coming into focus.
