5. New Study Finds 33% Fewer Writing Jobs Since ChatGPT

Data analysis from Bloomberry using Upwork’s publicly available job postings data looked at how job listings on the freelance marketplace had changed since ChatGPT was launched. Three jobs took the biggest hits. Customer service jobs were down 16%; translation jobs down 19%; and writing jobs? Down a full 33%.

In an election year, legislation just doesn’t happen. But AI is, like, really important, right? House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries have announced a new bipartisan taskforce to explore legislation around AI. Will anything actually get done?

“A lock to your guild’s winch!” That’s what ChatGPT said to me yesterday when it was supposed to be analyzing some code. And apparently, I wasn’t the only one. OpenAI says the issue has been fixed, but no good explanation for what happened has yet been offered.

2. Scale AI is Partnering with the Pentagon

Washington politicians may be debating AI, but the military establishment is moving full speed ahead. The Department of Defense and Scale AI announced a partnership yesterday around building a testing and evaluation framework for LLMs in military use.

In a recent Twitter/X Spaces conversation, Elon Musk was asked about AI art generation on X, and revealed that they were having what he referred to as “interesting discussions” with Midjourney. The “everything app” indeed!
