5. Nearly Half of Job Seekers Using AI To Improve Resumes

In completely unsurprising news, job seekers are turning to AI to improve their chances in the hiring process. A survey of 5000 hiring managers and 5000 job seekers found that 45% of job seekers have used generative AI to improve their resumes. Leading indicator much?

4. North Korea AI Development Concerning

A new report from the Center for Nonproliferation Studies suggests that North Korea is aggressively trying to develop AI for use cases ranging from government surveillance to wargaming simulations. While sanctions have prevented access to some equipment, it still appears progress is being made.

3. SAP Restructuring 8000 Jobs On AI Push

European enterprise software giant SAP has announced that it will spend $2.2 billion this year on a restructuring and retraining program impacting around 7% of its 108,000 workers. The focus? Preparing for a generative AI future.

2. Apple Increasing AI Capacities; Plans 2028 Cars

Lots of Apple in the news today. FT reports that the company has made a set of acquisition, hires, and hardware updates designed to bring AI to the iPhone. Bloomberg also reports that Apple’s plans to release a car have been pushed back to 2028, and it’s going to be less autonomous than previously thought.

1. Google Chrome’s New AI Features + Lumiere Video

The AI integration theme of 2024 continues as Google Chrome gets three new GenAI features. Too many tabs open? The AI feature “Organize Similar Tabs” will group them together. Want to customize the look and feel? “Customize Chrome.” Need help writing? Integrated drafting tools. They’ve also released a new video generation model called Lumiere.
