1. The “Most Influential” AI Companies
5. Is the OpenAI-Apple Deal Done?
While this week’s OpenAI discussions might have been all controversy, the reality is the company continues to smash forward. New reporting suggests that the company’s deal with Apple is done, with Sam Altman having talked to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella about concerns.
4. Klarna Saves Millions with AI
As business leaders look for examples of AI actually having ROI, buy-now-pay-later service Klarna has just shared that they’ve saved approximately $10m in marketing thanks to AI. The impact is so profound they felt they needed to warn about how dramatic the shift for that industry could be.
genAI will save us $10m in marketing this year. We’re spending less on photographers, image banks, and marketing agencies.
The numbers are mind-blowing:

3. Perplexity Raising at $3B
Perplexity is really setting the template for constant fundraising at this point. Just months after their last funding close, they’re in talks to raise again — this time at a $3B valuation.
Scoop: AI search startup @perplexity_ai is in talks with @BessemerVP about another round of funding that would value it at around $3 billion. It recently crossed $20 million in ARR.

2. Mistral Launches Code Model
French AI open source darling Mistral has launched a new code focused model. People are excited, but also noticed that it’s not approved for commercial use and are wondering if business realities are starting to shift Mistral’s open source priorities.
Mistral’s new 22B code generation model looks very promising but unfortunately falls under a new license:
NO COMMERCIAL USE. Only research and testingIs Mistral heading towards the path of closed source?
