5. Marc Andreessen Says AI Doomers Are The Problem

The man behind the software-is-eating-the-world thesis is back with a 7000-word missive on why AI will save the world. Marc goes through 5 risks - AI killing us all, ruining society, taking our jobs, exacerbating inequality, and enabling bad guys — and provides counterarguments to each. 4. Daz 3D’s Text-to-3D Character

Even if Marc is wrong and we’re all doomed, boy are we going to have some interesting creative expression and world-building on the way out. Daz 3D has just shared its 3D character development engine which uses text prompts to create custom 3D characters in minutes. Games, Metaverse, 3D graphic novels, oh my!

3. Senate Announces Classified AI Briefings

Well this isn’t ominous at all. Senate Leader Chuck Schumer has just scheduled a slate of 3 AI briefings for his Senate colleagues. The first is a general overview; the second will focus on American leadership in AI; and the third will be a classified session focused on defense. As Sam Seaborn once told CJ on The West Wing “Let's forget about the fact that you're comin' a little late to the party and embrace the idea you showed up at all.”

2. A 5,000,000 Token Context Window

ChatGPT’s context window is currently 8000 tokens. There has been much excitement about the potential improvements of moving to 32k. Then Anthropic came out with a 100,000 context window and 🤯. Well, now Magic Labs has announced LTM-1, a prototype neural network architecture designed for coding that has a 5,000,000 token context window. Big “F*** Everything We’re Doing Five Blades” energy.

1. Here Comes an Instagram Chatbot

Well-known feature leaker Alessandro Paluzzi has shared a screenshot suggesting that Instagram is working on a chatbot experience that will allow users to select from 30 different personalities to find the one they like best. From the little info we have, the AI sounds more in-line with the personal, entertainment side of things. Hopefully it goes a little better than some of the early Snapchat bot issues.
