5. Altman Says GPT-4 Now Less Lazy

In December, some folks noticed that ChatGPT seemed, to put it bluntly, a little lazier. There was speculation (and even some evidence) that it had learned that the last month of the year tented to be lest productive and so was mirroring that. Well, now according to Sam Altman, GPT-4 is back and has shaken off the holiday cobwebs.

4. HuggingFace Launches GPT Store Alternative

GPTs, but not with ChatGPT. That’s the idea behind Hugging Chat Assistant, a new tool that allows users to create their own assistants on Hugging Face. You can even select which open LLM to use.

3. Trump Calls AI Dangerous

In an interview on Fox, former president Donald Trump called AI “dangerous and scary.” Specifically he talked about a deepfake of him endorsing a product, and warned that with AI, “you can get into wars.”

2. AI Lobbying Up 185%

Between 2022 and 2023, AI-related lobbying efforts increased 185%, with more than 450 organizations participating. Companies that lobbied include ByteDance, Tesla, Palantir, Nvidia and OpenAI. Everyone is of course trying to influence the regulations coming down the line.

Bye bye Bard? According to a developer who found and leaked a changelog, Ultra is coming out this week (Wednesday Feb 7th) and along with it, the Bard name is being retired in favor of Gemini.
