5. Controversy Around Marques Brownlee’s Humane Review
Prominent YouTuber Marques Brownlee has become the latest reviewer to pan the Humane Pin, calling it the “worst product [he’d] ever reviewed.” Some thought the review was too harsh. Others disagreed strongly. Humane for their part seemed to take it in stride.
I find it distasteful, almost unethical, to say this when you have 18 million subscribers.
Hard to explain why, but with great reach comes great responsibility. Potentially killing someone else’s nascent project reeks of carelessness.
First, do no harm.

Introducing Limitless: a personalized AI powered by what you’ve seen, said, or heard.
It’s a web app, Mac app, Windows app, and a wearable.

Lots of Adobe AI news today. The company is working on a generative AI video model for Firefly, but is also exploring third party integrations with companies including Runway, Pika Labs, and OpenAI’s Sora. They also released a $4.99/month AI assistant for Acrobat.

2. Mnuchin Looking for AI Partner for TikTok Takeover
Former Treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin is trying to orchestrate a takeover bid of TikTok (in response to US pressure for Chinese-owned ByteDance to sell the property to a US buyer). Mnuchin is now looking for an AI partner to rebuild the company’s algorithm.

1. Llama 3 Coming This Week
Last week, The Information reported that Meta was debuting certain versions of it’s latest Llama 3 model this week, a fact which was later confirmed by the company. We’re expecting two of the smaller versions in advance of the large version this summer.
