3. AMD Introduces AI Chips for PCs
The push to get AI running locally on personal devices is a big one, and AMD has announced that custom built AI PC chips will soon be available for computers built by HP and Lenovo.
2. Microsoft Invests $1.5B in G42 in Major AI Geopolitics Move
Throughout last year, US security agencies were flagging concerns around UAE-based G42 as a conduit for China to get access to advanced US technology including AI. Now, the US Commerce Department has facilitated an investment from Microsoft that sees G42 moving away from China and towards the US.
We are excited to announce a $1.5 billion investment from @Microsoft in G42, marking a significant step forward in our journey to lead in #AI innovation globally.

1. Mistral Raising at a $5B Valuation
Just a few months after raising money at a $2B valuation, Mistral is in talks to raise more at $5B. While it may seem crazy, at this point Mistral has demonstrated themselves to be one of the very small number of credible players in the frontier model space.
New: Mistral seeks $5B valuation just a few months after getting $2B.
Funding action at the head of the LLM race continues unabated.
