5. Foxconn-Nvidia Team Up On “AI Factories”

A new type of industrial center is being conceptualized and Nvidia is calling it an “AI Factory.” Speaking at a Foxconn event, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang laid out a vision where these AI factories would continuously receive and transmit data from AI-powered devices such as autonomous vehicles.

4. Walmart’s Responsible AI Pledge

World’s biggest retailer Walmart has dived into the AI pond head first. The company released an AI-powered companion app earlier this year, and has now followed that up with a set of 6 principles for ethical AI. Will other retailers follow suit?

3. Inflection’s Pi Can Now Browse the Internet

While Google and OpenAI and Meta race for business-capabilities, Inflection’s Pi is taking a very different approach in trying to address human connection through AI. Their latest development is that their personal assistant Pi can now browse the internet.

2. US Announces New AI Chip Export Restrictions

The US Commerce Department announced yet another round of AI export restrictions that are aimed at closing loopholes left by last year’s rules that have allowed China to continue to access advanced AI chips. Chip manufacturers are not fans but the US says it’s necessary for national security.

Throughout the year, little leaks have been coming out from OpenAI about advanced models and other plans. One interesting new tidbit shared by The Information is that the company actually abandoned one of their models Arrakis this year when they found it simply wasn’t performing.
