5. Airbnb Acquires AI Startup
AI for travel planning is a hot category. Case in point: Airbnb has just acquired GamePlanner.AI - it’s latest in a set of AI efforts. The price for the 12 person team wasn’t revealed, but has been reported as just under $200m.
Airbnb just acquired an AI startup for $200M and nobody has any idea what it does
Is this their answer to hidden cleaning fees?

4. Notion AI Features + New AI Startup from YouTube Founder
More AI startup news: popular workspace startup Notion is going even deeper on AI features with the introduction of Q&A. Also, former YouTube founder Chad Hurley has raised money for an AI startup that generates short form video scripts and content.
Notion Q&A just came out.
It's already insanely good.
Yeah, it's "just" a better search box.

Understanding, not just indexing.

3. 50 Companies Sign Responsible AI Commitments
The tension between the ‘responsible AI’ folks and the accelerationists is getting more pronounced. A group of 35 VCs and 15 companies signed a voluntary Responsible AI Commitments pledge, and many in Silicon Valley are up in arms about it.
Absolutely not.

2. Argentina’s AI Election
While much brainpower has been expended thinking about the implications of AI for next year’s US presidential election, we’re already getting a preview of how it might work in Argentina. Deepfakes explaining parents harvesting their children’s organs anyone?
1. OpenAI Has A Committee to Determine When AGI is Here
Responding to criticisms that OpenAI is too connected to Microsoft, an OpenAI staffer pointed to their 6-member committee for determining when AGI is here, which Microsoft is not a part of….Which obviously generated a lot more chatter about AGI than about Microsoft.
NEW: @OpenAI says its 6-member board will decide 'when we've attained AGI' - a threshold which excludes Microsoft. What does the timing, context & process of that possible future decision mean for all of us?
